Manzanita Quintet

The Manzanita Quintet is a dynamic modern jazz ensemble comprising esteemed faculty members from the University of Nevada, Reno: trumpeter Josh D. Reed, saxophonist Peter Epstein, pianist Adam Benjamin, bassist Hans Halt, and drummer Andrew Heglund. Rooted in the creative vitality of the Sierra foothills, the group blends deep individual artistry with a cohesive collective voice, offering a fresh, unpredictable spin on the traditional quintet format. Known for their intricate interplay, they bridge swinging tradition and avant-garde exploration through sophisticated original compositions and thoughtful interpretations, brilliantly captured on their Origin Records release, Osmosis.
