Andrew Heglund

Andy Heglund is an accomplished drummer, percussionist, and educator based in Reno, Nevada. Since moving to the Reno-Tahoe area, he has established himself as a prominent fixture in the regional jazz community, serving as an Associate Professor of Music at the University of Nevada, Reno—where he teaches percussion and directs jazz ensembles—and anchoring the rhythm section as a long-time member and past president of the Reno Jazz Orchestra. Known for his stylistic versatility spanning traditional jazz, modern idioms, and free improvisation, Heglund has performed alongside numerous jazz legends, released original compositions like his album Blue Trapezoid, and remains an active performer, clinician, and pillar of music education in Northern Nevada.
