Josh D. Reed

Josh D. Reed is an accomplished trumpeter and educator whose career spans top conservatories, major jazz programs, and collaborations with leading artists. A graduate of the University of Colorado Boulder, the Eastman School of Music, and James Madison University, he has performed with luminaries including Dave Douglas, Anat Cohen, Art Lande, Paquito D’Rivera, Rufus Reid, and Darlene Love, while leading his own trio, quartet, and quintet. Reed’s teaching career has taken him from New York to Colorado and across the country, eventually leading jazz programs at the University of Missouri and Santa Clara University before joining the University of Nevada, Reno as Assistant Professor of Jazz Trumpet in 2019. His recording work includes his debut album Leaping Forward featuring Art Lande, numerous appearances on notable jazz releases, and his forthcoming album No Signs Ahead with Dave King of The Bad Plus.
