Scott Thunder

Scott Thunder is a Reno‑based trombonist whose career spans orchestral, jazz, commercial, and showroom performance, bringing deep versatility to the Reno Jazz Orchestra’s low‑brass section. A graduate of the University of Nevada, Reno with a Bachelor of Music in Performance, Thunder performed as the 2nd‑chair trombonist with the Reno Philharmonic before completing two years of graduate work in Jazz Studies at the University of North Texas. His performance résumé includes appearances with the Reno Philharmonic, Nevada Ballet, Nevada Opera Orchestra, Dallas Jazz Orchestra, and major entertainers such as Sammy Davis Jr., Bill Cosby, George Burns, Toni Tennille, The Four Tops, and Natalie Cole. Outside music, he is a certified public accountant and partner at Thunder Vick & Company, balancing a distinguished artistic career with professional leadership in the Reno community.
