Lucas Arizu

Lucas Arizu is an Argentina‑born guitarist whose lyrical, expressive playing has made him a standout voice in the Reno Jazz Orchestra and the broader Reno/Tahoe jazz community. He began his musical training at Escuela La Música in Buenos Aires and spent his early career balancing music with seasonal work as a ski instructor in Tahoe—always bringing his guitar along, which led to steady gig calls from local musicians. Encouraged by Reno guitarist George Souza, Arizu enrolled in the University of Nevada, Reno’s jazz program, graduating in 2015. He now performs widely across Northern Nevada, both as a soloist and as co‑leader of The Bayberry Cast, a versatile ensemble known for its theatrical flair and international influences. His playing blends South American roots, modern jazz sensibilities, and a warm, melodic touch that has become a signature element of RJO performances.
