Jim Garaventa

Jim Garaventa is a founding member of the Reno Jazz Orchestra, performing with the ensemble since its inception in 1997 and contributing decades of experience to the RJO saxophone section. Active in the Reno–Tahoe music scene since 1975, Garaventa rose to prominence during the heyday of casino showroom bands, performing with major entertainers as part of ensembles such as the Johnny Russell Orchestra. Known for his versatility and deep love of jazz’s stylistic breadth, he remains a respected figure in Northern Nevada’s musical community, admired for both his musicianship and his long-standing commitment to the region’s big‑band tradition.
